Our Story - How it all started
Starting in California in 1989, Sam began his journey in the construction business by becoming a Landscape Contractor and as years went on he continued to grow and added more licenses to his resume, General Contractor and Swimming Pool Builder. In 1999 Sam and I got married, I was working for the courts at the time. In 2004 we decided it was time for me (Natalie) to quit working for the courts and start working for our business full time. This is when I learned to do 3D designs. I wanted to bring something more to the business and help us grow as well as run the office full time. We had a successful business but the economy hit hard and we were in need of a change. Sam’s brothers lived in the Carolinas and we went to visit and feel in love and couldn’t believe the cost of things. We could buy a brand new home (3 stories, 5 bedroom, 4 bath) for $325,000.00. This was amazing to us and no way was that ever going to happen in CA. So after long hard deliberations we made what we thought would be the biggest and final decision of our lives and sold our home, closed up the business and moved across country to the Carolinas. (We still hold our licenses in California in good standing just in INACTIVE status, never know if you have to go back but once you work so hard for something, it is not easy to let it go. Its an accomplishment.)

The Story Continues
Once we were in the Carolinas we bought our new home and started our business again. Sam got our licenses for masonry, roofing and carpentry. Natalie went to school and got her Real Estate license and was just getting started as well as running the construction business doing all the designs, paperwork and payroll. Things were moving along great as far as the business and life. Sam’s mom had also made the move with us from California. She was on dialysis and Natalie had been helping take care of her in California and also now here in South Carolina. Sam’s mom eventually needed more full time care and we had to move her into our home which then required Natalie to give up her Real Estate business so she could help her with her full time care until she passed. We always said that since I took care of Sam’s mother it would only be right for us to take care of my parents if the time ever came. We had a successful business again and things were getting even better and growing even more. In late 2022 Natalie had some medical issues that required surgery. In this time her parents came to visit and it was at this time we realized we were closer to the time of the parents needing help. We discussed it with her parents and offered to come and help them where they lived if they felt it was time. (We didn’t want to wait until it was a complete emergency and then it would be even harder to do since we lived so far away). After some time of discussions we again made a huge hard decision. At the beginning of 2023 we closed up the business, sold our home and moved back across the country to Oregon. (Our licenses in South Carolina are also still in good standing and active)
Oregon
Final Chapter…..
We have been living here in the Pacific Northwest since 2023 where we have been helping take care of Natalie’ parents. They are doing good now and so it was time for us to talk about what we are going to do for our living again. Sam has been retired for the last 2 years and I have been helping take care of my parents. We decided its time to get back to business AGAIN! So, I Natalie studied and went and got my contractors license. Its only fair, he’s been pulling all the heavy weight for all these years. 🙂 What a change right? I am a licensed Contractor. I also decided to add a second side of our business and offer 3D conceptual designs to the public other than just our clients. As I mentioned, I have been doing 3D designs for our companies since 2004. So why not expand and offer to more people. I now offer my design service to the public in any state as well as to Contractors who need help for their clients. (I am working on learning how to do interior 3d designs as well. So stay tuned, this will be on the list of things I offer) If you know anyone interested or you would like to take a look at what this looks like, check out my website at: www.natalies3ddesignco.com.
